Pointe-Claire, Québec – January 27, 2026. Cielo Verde today announced it has been granted a Cannabis Research Licence from Health Canada, marking a key milestone in the company’s innovation strategy. The licence designates Cielo Verde’s Pointe-Claire, Québec facility as the company’s primary hub for research and development in cannabis cultivation, processing, and product innovation.
The licence enables Cielo Verde to conduct in-house research across genetics, cultivation techniques, post-harvest processes, and product development. This expanded capability strengthens the company’s ability to deliver consistent, high-quality cannabis products while continuing to advance innovation for regulated markets in Canada and internationally.
“This milestone reinforces our commitment to continuous improvement and innovation,” said Barry Laxer, CEO and President of Cielo Verde. “At Cielo Verde, we see research as a driver of innovation and advancement in cannabis. It allows us to refine how we grow, process, and develop products while maintaining the quality, consistency, and reliability that our partners and consumers expect.”
The Pointe-Claire facility will now serve as the company’s central R&D hub, supporting initiatives such as:
- Evaluation and development of new cultivars and cannabinoid profiles
- Optimization of cultivation and post-harvest techniques
- Exploration of new product formats
- Advancements in quality assurance and production standards
By integrating research directly into its operations, Cielo Verde aims to accelerate product innovation while upholding strong compliance and quality practices. The R&D hub will also create opportunities for collaboration with industry partners and support the company’s long-term growth strategy in regulated cannabis markets.
Research activities at the Pointe-Claire facility are expected to begin immediately.
